In the heart of San Polo, between the historic campo and the Canal Grande

Rialto 4 is the apartment for those who want to be in San Polo but are looking for a quieter stretch, away from the noise of the market. It sits close to Campo San Polo — the second largest campo in Venice after San Marco — and the historic palazzi along the Canal Grande. 45 square metres in a 17th-century palazzo, on the mezzanine floor: a separate double bedroom, a living room with sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchen. Sleeps up to 4. The street is quiet, one of those calli where almost nobody passes — the right choice if you want calm but want to stay central. The supermarket is metres away, practical for daily shopping. There’s a washing machine in the apartment, which is genuinely uncommon in the historic centre. Mezzanine floor, so a short flight of stairs to get in. One thing worth knowing upfront: the bath and shower is on the small side — it’s not well suited to very tall guests or those with limited mobility, though it works well for most people.

In the neighbourhood:
▸ Campo San Polo: 3-minute walk
▸ Basilica dei Frari: 5 minutes
▸ Scuola Grande di San Rocco: 7 minutes
▸ Ponte di Rialto: 8 minutes
▸ Historic palazzi of the Canal Grande nearby
▸ Supermarket very close
▸ Bars, wine bars and traditional restaurants
▸ Piazza San Marco: 10-minute walk
▸ Teatro La Fenice: 12 minutes
▸ Arsenale and Biennale: 25-minute walk

Quiet and central at Campo San Polo

Rialto 4 suits those who want the more measured, authentic side of San Polo. You’re not in the market area of Rialto, but close to Campo San Polo — one of the finest open spaces in Venice, where locals gather and where outdoor events and film screenings take place in summer. The historic palazzi of the Canal Grande are a short walk, and the Basilica dei Frari and Scuola Grande di San Rocco — two of Venice’s most significant buildings — are within easy reach. The street is quiet, the supermarket is right there for daily shopping, and the apartment has a washing machine, useful for longer stays. The 17th-century palazzo has the character of genuine Venetian historic architecture, with the mezzanine floor typical of these buildings. A good fit for couples or small families who want quiet and a central position without giving up comforts. One honest note: the bathroom is compact, so if you’re particularly tall or have mobility constraints, another apartment would serve you better.

How the apartment is laid out

Rialto 4 covers 45 square metres on the mezzanine floor of a 17th-century palazzo on a quiet street in San Polo. A private entrance leads into a well-organised space. The bedroom is separate with a queen-size double bed and wardrobes for clothing storage. The living room is spacious and has a sofa bed for two additional guests.

The kitchen is integrated into the living area and fully equipped — hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee machine — with a dining area and table and chairs. The bathroom has a combined bath and shower, hairdryer and courtesy kit. Worth noting again: the bath and shower is compact due to the available space, so it may not suit very tall guests or those with reduced mobility. The washing machine is in the apartment, convenient for stays of several days. Individual air conditioning, adjustable as needed. The 17th-century palazzo carries the character of historic Venetian architecture throughout.

Why this apartment?

On a quiet street close to Campo San Polo, away from the market noise: the right choice if you want to be in San Polo with some calm, with a supermarket right outside for daily shopping

A washing machine in the apartment — uncommon in Venice’s historic centre, and particularly useful for longer stays or travelling with Children

▸ A 17th-century palazzo with individual air conditioning and space for 4 people, close to the Canal Grande palazzi, the Basilica dei Frari and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco

The combined bath and shower is compact — a space constraint rather than a design choice. If you’re over roughly 185cm or have mobility difficulties, it may not be comfortable. For most guests it works fine, but we’d rather say so upfront. If you’d prefer a roomier bathroom, Ca Melusina or Ca de la Cenise would be a better fit.

No — this apartment is in a quieter part of San Polo, closer to Campo San Polo than to the market. The Ponte di Rialto is an 8-minute walk, the market a little further. If you want to be right at Rialto Mercato, Rialto 1, 2 or 3 would suit you better. If you’d rather have a quieter base, this is the right choice.

Yes — one of the few apartments in the historic centre with one included. No extra charge, no launderette. Useful for stays of several days, for travelling with children, or simply for washing clothes during your stay.

Yes — very little passes through this calle. You won’t hear the market in the morning the way you would near Rialto Mercato. If you want calm without giving up a central position, this works well. The supermarket is right there, Campo San Polo is 3 minutes away.

Campo San Polo is one of Venice’s finest open spaces — second in size only to San Marco, and used for outdoor events and film screenings in summer. The Basilica dei Frari is a 5-minute walk and well worth the time, as is the Scuola Grande di San Rocco next door at 7 minutes. The Canal Grande palazzi are close by, and San Marco is 10 minutes on foot.

What our guests say

"We were looking for a quiet apartment in San Polo. Rialto 4 is exactly right: a silent street, Campo San Polo 3 minutes away, supermarket right outside. The washing machine was very useful for a week-long stay. The bathroom is small, but for us — average height — it worked fine. A historic 17th-century palazzo, individual air conditioning. We'd do it again."

"We stayed for a week with our two children. The apartment is functional, and the washing machine was essential with kids. Campo San Polo is wonderful — the children ran around freely. The Basilica dei Frari is not to be missed (5 minutes). A quiet but central area, supermarket very close. Smooth self check-in. Recommended for families looking for calm."

"I stayed for two weeks for work. The apartment has everything: fast WiFi, washing machine, a well-equipped kitchen, controllable air conditioning. The street is quiet, ideal for working. Campo San Polo is one of my favourite campi in Venice. San Marco 10 minutes, Rialto 8. One note: the bathroom is small, but I knew that before booking. Good value."
